our furry, four legged kids

Luna is our "Special Girl."  And she knows it.  I knew it as soon as I found her on the shelter website that Bud would love her and we had to have her !  She will casually push the other two dogs out of her way to get her face in your face for the attention, lay down in front of the food dish (and not even eat sometimes) so the other two will stay away from it just because she doesn't want them to eat and she gets extra treats from daddy... and sometimes me, too.  ;]  She is just such a sweet, beautiful and fun dog that we can't help but have an extra special place in our hearts for her !  Even if she takes off like a race horse when she has managed to slip out front off the leash and it takes several people to chase after her and catch her.  I try not to be offended that she won't come back and that it scares me to death worrying we might not catch her.  Luckily, it's only been about three times in as many years.  Whew !  She just loves to explore and run.  :]  We joke that we would even have her stuffed one day after she is gone.  Probably not... but ashes for sure.  Our guestroom is supposed to be hair free... meaning no pets allowed - ever.  My mom spent the night with us on Saturday after returning from Colorado, and I found our little Luna, passed out on the bed with her !  Shame on her and shame on Grandma for not kicking her out.  :]   Luna is just a sucker for those expensive and extremely soft blankets we have.  And even though we have one on our bed and one downstairs on the couch, she knows this one is the best because it's hardly used.  :]

Koby is my momma's boy.  Bud had to have him when we went looking at the shelter for our first dog as a married couple.   He saw this "six month old" husky mix (probably more like nine) with one blue eye and one brown eye and said "this is the one !"  He wouldn't even let me look at any other dogs because he has always wanted a husky.  I was a little afraid when I picked him up from the vet because he wasn't a young puppy and he was a male.  I've never had a male dog so it worried me at first.  He was my only companion Monday through Thursday while Bud was working in Vegas and coming home on the weekends.  He made me feel safe being home alone and pregnant and was my best bud.  Bud said I ruined him.  He is about as wimpy as they get !  That's okay, I didn't want a mean guard dog, anyway.  :]  Koby is obsessed with Bud's head.  He loves to lick his entire head and make his hair sopping wet if he lets him.  (it's totally disgusting but he says "it feels good"... hmmm...)  Bud showers every single night and occasionally in the morning, too, but he is a guy, and I think guys tend to have greasier skin and Koby just loves it !  He also loves anything wet and will roll around on his back on a wet towel or if I lean down after a shower, he'll just about knock me over to rub on my hair.  There is also something about Koby's saliva that is amazing.  Bud had a somewhat deep cut on his hand last year from work and it kept opening up and would not heal after almost two weeks.  Koby licked/groomed the cut for about 20 minutes one day- I think even a little the next couple days- and what do you know.  The darn thing healed !!!  He has the most disgusting breath ever, even after having his teeth cleaned, but apparently, it heals cuts.  Good to know for future injuries, I suppose.  :]

Then there is Pebbles.  I don't really know what to say about her except that we think she is one of the ugliest, sweetest and most timid dogs ever.  She started out as such a cute puppy and somehow managed to have a face only a mother could love.  From her slight under bite to the oddly proportioned head and body- she's just a mess.  Her top lip often gets stuck on her bottom K-9s and always makes me want to tuck my upper lip under to stick on my teeth so I can pretend to be Pebbles.  ;]  Mean, I know !  I only wish I could get a picture of her when this happens, but she is terrified of most objects you try and put in her face and runs away.  Even my cell phone, which has never come in contact with her body that I know of (Brett..... ?), absolutely terrifies her and she will either run or just turn away from me with her ears down.  One day.  Her head doesn't seem to be quite big enough for her big thick body and long skinny legs.  But if you want a dog who loves you unconditionally and never tires of attention, she's your pal.  She follows me everywhere and showers us with kisses, even when they aren't wanted.  Brett especially hates it when he has just woken up and she attacks his face with her tongue.  She also stinks and barks, though she can't help that necessarily.  Luckily, huskies don't !

Koby and Luna have been pals from day one. :']

Luna did not like Pebbles at first, and still doesn't sometimes, but they all get along... mostly.  :]

Pebbles does not like other dogs, but before we got her, my friend Katy would bring her great dane, Hemi, over for play dates with Koby and Luna.  :]  They always had so much fun and wore one another out !

Luna stole Hemi's bed while we were dog-sitting... :]
